Always wanted to play a guitar?
We try to offer a very basic Introductory Guitar Class each month, on the third Saturday. The class lasts for an hour, and covers using the four basic open chords in the key of “G, G, E minor (Em), C and D. Plus it reveals a website where you can find alternate ways of playing several widely-used open chords.
In addition, we will cover, time permitting, using barre chords based on the open E chord and the open A chord.
You will also be introduced to an exercise playing single notes on the first four frets of each string, playing continuously from one string the next and then going back in reverse order. This exercise builds hand strength and helps to develop coordination between both hands.
If you don't have a guitar, we should be able to provide one for you, and you are welcome to try as many guitars as you like.
The lesson is free, and it's a group lesson. Group lessons often result in hearing answers to questions you might not think to ask. Plus, you might meet some old friends or even meet some new friends.
So, please, if you've always wanted to try to play a guitar, seize this opportunity to try it for free.
