B.W. Lyons Guitars became a business from the need to dispose of several guitars in my cousin’s estate.  The cleanest ones  were sold first, then as repairs were needed on the others, the experience and knowledge of how to repair the guitars was gained.  Eventually, I began repairing them, and even assembling electric guitars.  I do provide a custom-built electric guitar in a variety of styles, colors, and components.

My current project is a neck-through design on an SG-style guitar.  This began with a neck I purchased as a start towards this project.  the neck was actually made to fit a Les Paul-style body, and extended under the neck pickup.  I also purchased a long stock of mahogany, roughly 13/16" X 10" wide and about eight feet long.  I began by extending the neck to the end of the body, and to the width of the pickups (also about the width of the bushing locations for the bridge and the tailpiece.  Then i created the body sides or wings.  Next step was to piece it all together.  The body has also been tapered from the tail to the heel of the neck.  The taper came to about 3/16".  These four pictures are just after the grain and sanding sealer had been applied, and obviously prior to painting.

See the next stage----->
